What is Zhihu Daily?
Zhihu Daily is a curated reading product associated with Zhihu. Its public site presents selected stories for readers who want an explanation or an interesting longer read rather than an open-ended feed of every question. It is useful to think of it as a reading digest drawn from a knowledge community.
The distinction matters for research: the appearance of a story in an edited selection is different from a question entering a hot list. Selection tells you that content was included in this product; it does not establish the largest audience or the most rapidly growing public discussion.
How is it different from Zhihu and Quora?
Quora is a helpful analogy for Zhihu's Q&A roots, but not for every Zhihu product. A Zhihu question can accumulate alternative answers, comments, and edits. A Daily story is a selected reading item that should be traced back to its author, attribution, and linked discussion where provided. Do not assume you have read all answers by reading the digest version.
Whose knowledge are you reading?
A digest can bring a specialist explanation or a personal account to a wider audience. The original author's identity and references remain essential: experience of an event, a historical explanation, and scientific evidence carry different kinds of support. Editorial inclusion is not peer review, and the word 'Zhihu' does not make every story an institutional statement.
How to interpret its position in ThreadEast
Read the ordering as position in the particular source feed we received. A curated list need not have the same update rhythm or ranking basis as Zhihu Hot List. Check the original story's date rather than interpreting a successful new fetch as newly published content. Repeated ordering can reflect the product's selection or an upstream freshness issue.
Can guests read it, and what should they cite?
The Daily homepage is publicly readable in our October 10 check, and public story pages are usually available without an account. A linked answer on the main Zhihu site can have different access requirements. Cite the specific story and its credited author; for a disputed claim, follow the primary evidence instead of citing only an English topic label.
What ThreadEast adds
ThreadEast provides English discovery context for a retained source listing and links to the original. A first or last observed time describes our collection, not the event or article publication date. Rank and source metrics remain specific to that list. We do not provide source-platform accounts or full translation of every article, answer, or video.
These introductions use official platform descriptions and public entry points where available. Product comparisons are editorial explanations. Access can change by page, region, and visitor checks; a readable homepage does not guarantee every item is accessible. Consult source status before interpreting missing or repeated observations.
